Update

After over a week later, I've finally recuperated from the D.C. trip. Isaac was fine while I was gone, just like I knew he would be, but I'm glad to be back home. Since I last posted, Isaac has started sleeping through the night. He started doing that a few days before my trip, actually. It seemed to coincide with me weaning him. He only drinks (organic) whole milk and water now, and I've started introducing him to meat. So far, he's only had chicken, but I'll let him try turkey later this week.

Isaac has also started walking. Each day, he gets more confident. He still likes to hold onto my hand when he walks, and I'm enjoying it as long as I can. I know it's only a matter of time before he's walking completely on his own and then running all over the place.

Isaac's new favorite place to be is outside. Whenever it's time to come in, he pitches a fit. I'm glad he likes being outdoors. Even when I was just pregnant with him, I had visions of him kayaking, hiking, and camping during his childhood.

School is still busy, but not to the same degree it was just before, during, and after the D.C. trip. Now there are less than two weeks before spring break, and I'm looking forward to being able to spend more time with Isaac.

DC Trip

On Wednesday, I'm leaving for Washington, D.C. with my seventh graders. I have to leave my house at five in the morning, so I most likely won't get to see Isaac before I go. I'll come back on Saturday night, after Isaac is already asleep. This will be the first time I've ever been away from him overnight. I'm not looking forward to it.

I sent everything that Isaac will need for the week to Linda's house today. I'll probably leave written instructions for Wes and his mom, who will be tending to Isaac in the evenings. (Wes wants me to write everything down for him.) I'm in the process of washing clothes so that I can start packing my suitcase, and most of my stuff at school is in order.

I'm not going to be worried about Isaac too much during the day, or even in the evenings. What has me most concerned is the middle of the night. Some nights, he sleeps all night. Other nights, he doesn't. I just hope he'll be able to get himself back to sleep and that Wes will keep his wits about him as he is tending to his needs.

I'm sure everything will be fine and that it will be a great trip. That doesn't make it any easier to leave though!
